About Us

The Carpenters’ Fellowship

Formed in the year 2000, The Carpenters’ Fellowship (CF) is the trade body
that represents and sets standards for the structural timber framing industry in the UK.

It is a not-for-profit membership organisation run by volunteers from the industry.

The CF produces a quarterly journal for its members – “The Mortice and Tenon”
and an annual conference – “FRAME”

The CF created the industry NVQ qualifications in partnership with the Specialist unit of CITB Construction Skills, and set up The Oak Frame Training Forum in 2009
to oversee the training and qualification needs of the oak framing industry in the UK.
As well as the NVQ qualifications at level 2 and 3 it delivers specific plant and H&S training and Specialist Apprenticeships in Structural Post and Beam Carpentry.

Among its global membership we access some of the finest timber building designers,
engineers, project managers and practitioners, not only in the UK, but internationally.
